Introduction
For various unit themes for different classes and based on the different abilities of individual students, suitable reading materials are composed and selected for individual teaching, group activities or other teaching modes. The use of simulated environments is encouraged. By simulating different community environments or living situations, students can learn different communication skills and approaches as well as apply what they have learned to actual environments. Teaching strategies such as teacher or peer demonstrations, singing, multi-sensory teaching, role-playing, games, group learning, drama teaching elements, electronic teaching materials and different rewards are applied to boost learning effectiveness. To deepen students’ understanding of Chinese culture, ten school days of “subunit” teaching will be conducted before Mid-Autumn Festival, New Year’s Day and Dragon Boat Festival. It will start with environment decoration, with teachers and students decorating the classrooms together to create a festive atmosphere. Step by step, students at different learning stages can learn about distinctive traditional objects, customs and festival meanings through different activities. Celebration activity simulation and life experience integration are applied to enhance students' understanding of Chinese festivals.
