School social workers mainly carry out whole-person rehabilitation programs, provide diversified support services and assist students in applying for benefits based on the overall needs of students and their families. We support and counsel parents through meetings, home visits and group activities as well as promote a peer support system to encourage mutual care among parents. Meanwhile, we also promote understanding and coordination between parents and the School to jointly support students’ learning needs. In addition, we encourage parents to utilize community resources to reduce the daily pressure of taking care of their children. To arrange for students’ graduation, we regularly conduct ability assessments for students, organize care home visits and follow up with adult service applications, to help students and parents prepare for the changes brought about by graduation and adapt to life after that.
